myself

I often photograph people who have been marginalised and who are living on the borders of society. These people are often unable to leave or change the situation they find themselves in and are left without any support or care from family, friends or other social networks. There are others who are still living within ‘normal’ society, but are slowly being marginalised and pushed away, due to a wide array of personal issues and who face the prospect of losing what little support they may still have in the near future.

My aim is to connect the intimacy and fragility of the subjects with documental language. I understand the need to demonstrate the utmost respect and kindness for the people I photograph and I have found that once I have gained their trust, this often allows me to get a far greater insight into their personalities.
I am normally focused on long term documentary projects which have a strong social context, either culturally or for me personally.
