| Warsaw | Poland |
I started photographing orphans in 2002. Warsaw Orphanage for Young Children was one of the largest institution in Poland, with approximately 200 children (age: 0 – 7 years). It took me almost two years to finish this project. My aim was to connect their intimacy and fragility with documental language. I saw how fast mental plateau and stagnation is reached and how psychologically devastating is the lack of positive touch. I used 35 mm film camera with 50 mm lens. I wanted simplicity and no focal modification from camera lens (as possible).
